First of all, can we say a very big thank you to Alan Dart for the lovely unicorn pattern printed in Simply Knitting issue 112. All we had to do was change the angle of the head to make it into a horse. Jacqueline crocheted the canopy and floor, she also knitted the horse sections. I knitted the saddles and figures by trial and error – I had no patterns for them. My son made the framework for us and made sure the canopy and horses went round. I’ve always wanted to make a carousel and it has turned out better than we thought! The carousel has been given to the Louise Hamilton Cancer Unit at the James Paget Hospital. SAY HELLO TO THE knitters of the next generation! S1 and S2 students at Taylor High School in North Lanarkshire, Scotland, have been busy spending their lunchtimes learning how to knit. “We like to encourage all of our students to come along to our lunchtime clubs,” says one of the librarians behind the new club, Cathy Maclntyre. “And we wanted something that could rival other clubs in the school.” Cathy quickly enlisted the help of her knitting colleague, Morag Dickson, and together they gathered ten students (four boys and six girls) for the very first meeting of The Library Nifty Knitters, in September 2015. “Nobody knew how to knit, but our initial aim was to show them how to knit small squares and sew them into a blanket,” says Cathy.…

We chat to the founder of London Craft Club about her latest knitting projects. How did you learn to knit? My mum. I clearly remember her teaching me to knit on the train.
