Give yourself the permission to get rid of yarns you don’t like. It might have cost you a fortune or been a gift from a friend but if you don’t want to use it, don’t. There’s no point in turning a hobby into a chore! You don’t have to throw anything away (unless it’s got moths in). This morning, I judged the length of tail for a long-tailed cast on just right, first time. No measuring, no calculating, I just pulled out the yarn until it seemed appropriate for what I needed, and 90 stitches later, there it was: perfection. High on hubris and yarn fumes, I felt like the most skilled knitter ever. Granted, this was the first time it had ever happened in a good few years of long-tailed cast ons, and so by the law of averages I was bound to accidentally get it right eventually, but still.
