We all strive for accurate colours on our prints. But ensuring accurate colours is not always easy. Surprisingly, there are occasions when we actually prefer an image with a slight colour cast. Photographs are personal; some photographers like ‘warm’ colours, others prefer ‘cold’ colours. But what if you want accurate colours? Note: It is very difficult to quantify ‘accurate colours’; everyone’s colour vision differs a bit and there are several reasons why the same colours will look slightly different on different devices and under different lighting conditions. Hence saying ‘pleasing colours’ instead of ‘accurate colours’ is a better way to deal with the subject. Or you can consider ‘accurate colours’ as ‘reasonably accurate colours’. Photography means ‘painting with light’. ‘Light’ or ‘Visible Light’ as we know it, is electromagnetic radiation with wavelength frequencies between 390 nanometers (nm) and 700 nm. There are of course other light frequencies (which we cannot see) like Long radio waves, Radio waves, Microwave, Infrared, Ultraviolet, X-rays and Gamma rays.
