Leica has announced the discontinuation of the M7. It was introduced in 2002 as a follow-up to the M6. The Leica M7 had an Aperture Priority mode and an electronically-controlled shutter. The film camera was also the first M camera with a built-in DX code reader for ISO detection. Sigma has announced that it will launch its the 105mm f/1.4 DG HSM for Canon, Nikon and Sigma mount cameras. The lens will retail at 222,000 yen. Washing/Cleaning camera bags I have a Vanguard Supreme Divider 46 camera bag. Please suggest a way to clean it since it is foam padded I am afraid to wash it fearing it may not dry completely. After a wash, the inserts will eventually dry but will take an overly long time. Do not apply external heat to dry the inserts. If you are not careful during the wash, the foam padded dividers may go out of shape. The bigger issue that I see here is the soap that you use. Soap can be corrosive and if it is not thoroughly removed, could eventually harm the equipment.…

There are several methods in Photoshop to convert colour images to black & white. Here are two simple but quick and effective methods. Method A : Using B&W Adjustment Layer 1. Open the image in Photoshop and create a duplicate image (Image > Duplicate) . This will be your ‘reference’ picture. Once you convert the image to black & white (in the next step), you may find it difficult to know which tonality to adjust. Ensure that both the images are open side by side. 2. Select one image and create an adjustment layer for Black & White (with the Layers panel open, click on the half-black, half white circle at the bottom of the Layers panel and select Black & White). Everyone knows that, other things being equal, the larger the image sensor, better the image quality. Larger sensors equate to better dynamic range and lesser digital noise, especially at higher ISO sensitivities. But, the sensor isn’t the only component that matters – the processing engine, the algorithms used in designing the sensor assembly and the quality of the lens that is used also play a very important role in the final image quality. Do keep in mind that larger sensor cameras are comparatively heavier and require larger, heavier and costlier lenses! What is not known to everyone, is that smaller imaging sensors also have some advantages. Nikon has released a new firmware for the D5. This can be used to update the D5 camera “C” firmware to version 1.30 The ‘recall shooting function’ can be assigned to camera controls, by holding the selected control recalls previously-saved exposure settings (including shutter speed and aperture). It is a feature that can be used to switch rapidly between scenes that require different exposures. The ‘recall shooting functions’ can be configured by the following controls using the Custom Setting f1 (Custom control assignment): Preview button, Fn1 button, Fn2 button, AF-ON button, Sub-selector centre, AF-ON button for vertical shooting, and Lens focus function buttons.
