It only took one 20-minute visit to this South Carolina property for Nicole Lynch and her husband, William, to sign a contract with the realtor. “It’s a magical place,” Lynch says, noting their family’s love of the outdoors and fishing. The couple were taken with this house specifically due to its location at the tip of a point in Sea Pines Resort, offering a sweeping view of the marsh. “From the dock, you can see all the activity with the fishermen going out and the ferry coming in,” she says. Bigger is not always better, particularly in interior design. Y’all created such an idyllic home, Patina Farm, in Ojai, California, and the rest of us fell in love with your house, land, and animals through your books, blog, and videos on social media. In today’s digital age, it is easy to forget that clocks were once considered so important that they were almost always displayed prominently in one’s home, a domestic tradition that was born in the 17th and early 18th centuries. Often a combined effort between clockmakers, who were responsible for the movements that allowed a clock to tell time, and craftsmen, who designed and built the cases that housed a clock’s movement, clocks intended for use at home were limited early on to either tall floor clocks or table clocks.
