WHEN IT COMES TO CHILL SHOWS WITH KILLER RIDES, LAKESIDE SHOWDOWN IN MERIDIAN, MISSISSIPPI, HITS THE SWEET SPOT. WHEN FORD SET OUT TO RELEASE AN ALL-NEW “MINI-TRUCK”, IT HAD NO CLUE THE RESPONSE IT WOULD GET. Ford sold the Ranger from 1983 to 2011 in a few different variations. This was its version of the mini that competed with the S-10, Mazda B2200, Nissan Hardbody, and Toyota Tacoma, and did quite well in the market. At that time, mini-trucks were not only used for daily drivers, but tons of businesses used them as company vehicles. With the demand for smaller vehicles shrinking, Ford pulled the plug on the platform in 2011 to focus more on the F-150 and its Super Duty trucks. WITH MULTIPLE CAR SHOWS EVERY WEEKEND, THE CHOICES FOR ENTHUSIASTS IN THE SUNSHINE STATE ARE VIRTUALLY LIMITLESS. The goal, obviously, is trying to attend as many as possible. There is no difficulty, however, in adding two very special Florida events to your have-to-be-there calendar. The first is the largest car show in Florida—the Fall Turkey Run held over the Thanksgiving weekend. With more than 6,000 vehicles, 3,000 vendors, and 1,500 vehicles in the Car Corral, there is always something for everyone. No one skips this one.
