FOUR months before his death, centenarian and former US Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger, visited Beijing. The visit was honoured by the highest levels of the Communist Party of China, including President Xi Jinping.
Meeting with the Chinese president in the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in July last year, President Xi expressed his warm appreciation for the American statesman who served as the national security adviser to US President, Richard Nixon, as well as secretary of state to Nixon and his successor, Gerald Ford.
