It’s hard to believe that we are coming up on the half-century mark of the historic Apollo 11 Moon landing in July 1969. I still marvel at the sheer force of will and determination that made this most defining moment in exploration, and indeed the human career, possible. To mark this momentous milestone, The Explorers Club will be honoring our trailblazing Apollo astronauts at our Explorers Club Annual Dinner (ECAD), on March 16, 2019, at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City. Burns are likely fatal without treatment if total body surface area (TBSA) is greater than 30 percent. Burn field management involves pain control and wound cleanliness. Evacuate burns immediately if: TBSA is greater than 10 percent, facial, circumferential of extremity or chest, or involve hands, feet, or genitals. OVERCOMING OBSTACLES IN EXPLORATION OFTEN INVOLVES A TECHNOLOGICAL COMPONENT. THE LATE NEIL ARMSTRONG, WHEN HE SET FOOT ON THE MOON IN 1969, PILOTED THE LUNAR LANDER TO PUT HIM ON THE SURFACE. DON WALSH, WHEN HE VISITED THE EARTH’S DEEPEST POINT IN THE MARIANA TRENCH IN 1960, DID SO IN THE BATHYSCAPHE TRIESTE.
