On June 7, 2025, the fifth annual Teach Truth Day sparked hundreds of events across all 50 states. The day, which included a march in Washington, D.C., united librarians, students, and educators in support of inclusive history lessons amidst record-high book bans.
“When the government tries to erase the truth about racism, colonialism, LGBTQIA+ identity, and the climate crisis, they’re not just closing the door on the past — they are locking students out of the future,” Jesse Hagopian, the author of “Teach Truth: The Struggle for Antiracist Education,” told the National Education Association.
