Bisan Owda, a journalist, activist, and filmmaker, has been reporting live from Gaza long before a United Nations commission classified Israel's siege on Gaza as a genocide.
Before, she shared everyday anecdotes from street vendors, students, and ordinary people. Now, she documents the realities of occupation: Living in a makeshift tent, sobbing and running as Israeli forces strike a nearby ambulance, documenting the harrowing lack of clean water and food, smiling and drinking tea during a temporary ceasefire.
In 2023, she received a Peabody Award for her reporting. In 2024, an Emmy.
