The Mark IX Supermarine Spitfire fought in the Battle of Britain, along with the Hurricane. This one came as a kit build, meaning that, as well as the plans, you get the ribs cut out, all the material for the build in random lengths, and some hardware and canopies, etc. You don’t get patience in the kit, so it still took about six months of spare time. The build takes the same amount of care and expertise as a scratch build, but you do get an instruction manual, which can be very useful if you are new to this.
