THE BOOK OF PROVERB
By Tebogo Thekisho and Paballo Rampa, Penguin Random House South Africa, R240
Tebogo Thekisho, famously known as ProVerb, made his debut on the South African music scene in 2005 with his hip hop album, The Book of ProVerb. Fifteen years later, he hits South Africa’s bookshelves with his memoir of the same name. He honours the people who were there when he became the success that he is today, with a special thanks to his parents, his grandmother and his siblings. It’s a book about lessons learnt and, while the tone is mostly positive, it doesn’t shy away from the dark side of the experience – he also shares some details about his public divorce and attempted suicide.
