Is it fair to say you first came into the Mescaleros as a hired gun? Yes, toward the end of recording Rock Art And The X-Ray Style. That record was very much under Ant Genn’s control. They’d kind of pulled Joe out of where he was to make that record – and it took a bit of encouragement.
