Bigger and better, but still the inimitable VolksWorld Show After the astounding success of the 2025 event, we're delighted to say The VolksWorld Show is returning to the South of England Showground in West Sussex in 2026, and promises to be bigger and even better than last year. Set to take place on Sunday 22 March 2026, prices start at just £10 for a display pass for any air-cooled VW, together with its driver and passenger. If you prefer to make a weekend of it and camp, a pitch costs £30, and that's for two adults and two children for two nights. When Max Edwards first laid eyes on the classified listing for this 1975 VW SP2, he knew it was ‘the one’; the car he’d wanted since he first learned that SP2s even existed. Built in South America by Volkswagen do Brasil between 1972 and 1975, the SP2 is rare outside its home country. It was never officially exported, allegedly because of the height of the headlamps, which were set too low for European and American regulators. The sporty, fastback design means it doesn’t really look like an air-cooled VW at all. Its long bonnet suggests a front engine position, but then you get front and rear luggage spaces, combined with stylish curves and proportions unlike any contemporary product of VW Germany. Almost 25 years ago, I worked at Just Kampers for a year. Back then, I didn’t have much experience working on VWs and my job involved selling VW parts on the ’phone. It was a dream job at the time and a foothold into working in the VW scene I love. I soon found myself taking on more stuff at JK, including writing and doing the photography for ‘How to’ instruction sheets, as well as the odd press release. When it comes to Volkswagens, some cars are bought, some are restored, and some are passed down through generations like a well-loved family heirloom. For Sthefanus Giovanni Witjaksana, better known to friends and fellow enthusiasts as Stevi, his 1965 Volkswagen Beetle is very much the latter. Here’s a feature that’s been a long time coming to VolksWorld. You could argue it’s been in the pipeline since 1968, when this Bus rolled out of the Hannover plant doors heading for a boat bound for America.
