JOHN HILLERMAN 1932-2017 Best known for his portrayal of posh British butler Jonathan Higgins, the perfect foil to Tom Selleck’s raffish detective on Magnum, P.I., John Hillerman has died at his home in Houston, Texas. He was 84. Born in 1932, in Texas, Hillerman began his career as a stage actor until he caught the eye of director Peter Bogdanovich, who cast him in his film debut in 1971’s The Last Picture Show.
