FUELOMEGA-3
Benefit Omega-3’s arguably the unsaturated fat of choice with loads of research suggesting it protects the heart, controls blood pressure and maintains lean bodyweight. It also benefits blood and muscle functions by acting as a cleanser, making blood less sticky and more fluid, which allows more oxygen to reach the triathlete’s brain and muscles. Omega-3 helps breakdown fat, too, by activating fat-burning pathways through the liver and, of course, arguably it’s headline act: it’s a powerful anti-inflammatory, which boosts the immune system.
Foods Foods swimming in omega-3 include: Seafood and fish, including cold-water fatty fish like salmon, mackerel, tuna, herring and sardines.
It’s in plentiful supply in nuts and seeds, too. Flaxseed, chia seeds and walnuts are good choices.
You can supplement, too, via cod liver oil.…
