Despite having only just completed a three-year renovation on their semi-detached in Surrey, Vicky and Daniel Whatford couldn’t resist going to view a run-down Victorian lodge nearby after Vicky spotted it in a local property paper. ‘I persuaded Daniel to come to the open day, although he wasn’t very keen as we’d only just finished laying the carpets that week and hadn’t yet had time to enjoy the fruits of our labours,’ smiles Vicky.
