Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. —PSALM 90:12 (NIV) Every year, our small town hosts a Christmas festival, and every year, our family waits in line for the horse-drawn wagon ride that loops down the street and around the block. I have photos from years ago when we had to lift the boys up the steps to the wagon, and others, from later years, bundled in scarves and smiles, my mom beside us, beaming with joy.
Today, it’s just Mom and me, waiting in line, cups of hot chocolate in hand, taking in the moment. We board the wagon and go down the street. Our own little parade.
Everyone says how fast time flies. And just like that, with the sweet smell…
