“A flower blossoms for its own joy” Oscar Wilde There’s no denying Irish poet, playwright and novelist Oscar Wilde was right about flowers and their intentions. They flower not for us, but in the interests of their own reproduction and survival, with pollinators playing a key role in the process.
In recent years I’ve been completely captivated by salvias, which is hardly surprising as there are an estimated 1,000 species of these beauties plus an ever-growing number of hybrids and cultivars, making it one of the largest genera of flowering plants.
