HOW POLITICAL IS POLLUTION?
WHEREVER we look these days, there is a story in the news about pollution. Usually, the water companies are causing it, or the regulators are failing to do something about it. And where there is public opinion, there’s usually a politician somewhere looking to score some brownie points.
Red, blue, gold or green, they all blame the others for the failings in the system, and they all have a wonderful solution. In England at the moment, it’s blue. In Wales it’s red, and across the border to the north, it’s gold. However, all three countries have the same pollution issues, run by different colours. It’s not a party issue, more a governance one.
