Apple will soon make another bid to persuade schools to replace textbooks with iPads. Next week, it will introduce a tool for instructors to teach from the tablet. The company said that it would issue an upgrade on July 8 for iTunes U, its set of tools for educators. The update introduces a new app that allows instructors to create, edit and assign course work using the iPad. Twitter is hiring a Goldman Sachs executive as its new chief financial officer, continuing a shakeup that has led to the departures of several executives in recent months. The social media company said in a regulatory filing Tuesday that it hired Anthony Noto, 46, to replace current CFO Mike Gupta, who steered Twitter through its initial public offering in 2013. Gupta will stay on at Twitter, taking on the role of senior vice president for strategic investments. The European Union says the surcharges for surfing the Internet on mobile devices while traveling across the 28-nation bloc will be more than halved. The European Commission says the new cap on the so-called roaming fees will be effective starting Tuesday just in time for the summer holiday travel season.
