Ive teamed up with fellow famed-designer Marc Newson to create special items for an auction to benefit Product (RED), a charity started by musician Bono. The purpose of Product (RED) is to fight AIDS. Besides the aluminum desk, specially created headliners included an all-red Mac Pro and a special edition Leica M digital camera. Apple has confirmed its acquisition of PrimeSense, an Israel-based company that specializes in making chips used in 3-D motion sensors. The move may signal Apple's plans to increase use of the technology that allows gestures to control functions on devices. So far, PrimeSense's biggest claim to fame is helping Microsoft create the Kinect, a 3-D motion sensor for the Xbox. Apple was rumored to have purchased PrimeSense last week, but it has just now been confirmed by the two companies. LOS ANGELES - Shares of Pandora Media Inc. slipped Thursday after the Internet radio leader gave an outlook for the three months through January that was short of Wall Street’s forecast. Chief Financial Officer Mike Herring said, however, that the impact from the Sept. 18 launch of Apple Inc.’s rival iTunes Radio was “modest.” Pandora noticed a quick dip in users, followed by stabilization and recovery in October, he said. “It said a lot, we think, of the resilience and value of the Pandora brand,” he told The Associated Press.
