According to the Wall Street Journal, a Microsoft smartphone might already be in thetesting phase. Microsoft has reportedly been connecting with a variety of component manufacturers across China, and sources close to the project state that the company is currently "testing" the possibilities ofcrafting its own handset. One source stated that the smartphone's screen is somewhere between four and five inches in size. This makes sense if Microsoft is planning on bringing the fight to rivals Samsung and Apple. Microsoft's app SmartGlass, already released for use on Android devices, is now available for iPad, iPhone, and iPod. All Apple fans can now get the tool for free, which will allow you to perform a variety of tasks on your Xbox 360 console right from your iDevice. Currently, SmartGlass users can change profile information, compare game achievements, surf content, and change minor settings on their console. According to a report by Bloomberg Business week, Apple is looking to transition away from using Intel chips in their iMacs and Macbooks. This is no secret and has been the buzz for a long time, especially since Apple doesn't use any Intel chips in their current mobile devices. The goal is to further differentiate their PC line up from other companies who use Windows OS, and also contain Intel chip sets. I was never really a big Macintosh computer fan back in the day. I only recall using them during my school years and honestly; many people had a less than wonderful experience in school. It was a quality issue for me also. I never felt that the original iMac’s were very user friendly and they always seemed to break down. A federal jury in Texas has ordered Apple to pay patent holding firm VirnetX $368 million for a patent-infringement complaint. Following its success, VirnetX is now working to get Apple's iPhone, iPad, and Mac products banned. Dissatisfied with the payout alone, VirnetX has now filed complaints with the U.S. International Trade Commission against Apple in an effort to get its guilty devices banned. All Things D reports that Apple has declined to comment on the situation, but is expected to appeal. VirnetX also has cases ongoing against Cisco, Avaya, and Siemens. Even though Apple’s new Maps app wasn’t received well and could be considered their biggest blunder in quite a while, it is still causing Google some headaches. Just rolling out the new iPhone 5 without the inclusion of Google Maps has caused usage of Google’s map service to fall dramatically, especially in areas like China. In an analysis posted on Wednesday, Horace Dediu of Asymco noted that Apple spent one-third more than it expected in capital expenditures in fiscal 2012.
