Art Almanac has always published a variety of creative talent throughout our fifty-plus years, and our monthly offerings are rarely categorised into defining themes. However, while working on this issue, it became clear that there is an abundance of exhibitions focusing on women artists across the country this month. So, in tune with International Women's Day (6 March), we've (unintentionally, yet proudly) provided a platform to showcase and celebrate women artists and their work – from our cover artist Mel Douglas' use of line to inform, define and enable three-dimensional space in glass to still-life artist Criss Canning's sixty-year exploration of flowers, textiles and decorative objects; Bridie Gillman's abstract paintings “where reality and fiction intermingle with memory and emotion,” and Lani Westerman's 'pocket views' capturing “those special interactions within the…

She has refined her technique for a skill that is distinctively hers. One of integrity that doesn't buckle to trends or collector demands.
