Tarnanthi From 17 October 2025 to 18 January 2026, Tarnanthi celebrates ten years. A focal point of the festival is the major new exhibition Too Deadly: Ten Years of Tarnanthi at the Art Gallery of South Australia (AGSA), from 17 October 2025 to 18 January 2026. It features over 200 works that have been acquired into AGSA’s collection over Tarnanthi’s decennary – promising to animate fresh insights and unique dialogues between works and across the gallery. Curated by Malcolm Thomson, the Toorak Village Sculpture Exhibition sees Melbourne’s Toorak Village on Toorak Road transformed into a public gallery, featuring ninety-seven contemporary sculptural works on display in the shop windows of small businesses and side streets until 12 October. Eleven large sculptures purchased by the businesses from previous exhibitions are bolted along the sidewalks. Australian Centre on China in the World Until 15 November 2025 Australian Capital Territory Bringing together Chinese ink, cement, titanium, and incense ash collected from Taoist temple censers in New South Wales, alongside fragments of the artist’s earlier works, Kien Situ creates an environment of rupture and reincarnation. Titanium needles and planes puncture the gallery like acupuncture points or tools of extraction. Ink flows across painted surfaces. Metal catches and refracts faint light. Sculptures made from cast ink – a signature of Situ’s past work – appear toppled, shattered, pierced. These are not static objects but shifting states: broken, reassembled, and suspended within a cycle of destruction and transformation.…

Town Hall Gallery Until 1 November 2025 Melbourne Known for his exploration of the plural self and the diversity of human identity, David Rosetzky’s works investigate how individuals see themselves in relation to others, often through intimate, collaborative portraits of LGBTQIA+ and marginal identities. The exhibition features some of Rosetzky’s most iconic works alongside a newly commissioned series that directly engages with the LGBTQIA+ community of Boroondara. Through video installation and photography, Rosetzky creates a compelling dialogue between different generations and experiences, staging personal narratives that consider the evolution of gender, identity and community over time.…

David Roche Gallery Until 25 October 2025 South Australia This inaugural prize – Australia’s only biennial art prize dedicated to domestic dogs – pays homage to gallery founder David Roche AM (1930–2013) – art collector, canine breeder, exhibitor, and judge. JamFactory at Seppeltsfield 4 October to 7 December 2025 South Australia Weaving Through Time is a celebration of Aunty Ellen Trevorrow’s unwavering dedication to culture, community, and innovation in contemporary Ngarrindjeri weaving over the past forty years. Curated by Carly Tarkari Dodd, the exhibition visually and textually documents Aunty Ellen’s evolution as an artist, from her early traditional baskets and fish traps to her recent large-scale sculptures and wearable works, including dresses, jewellery and textiles. Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA) Until 15 February 2026 Sydney A Conversation with the Sun (Afterimage) is a new video installation created for the MCA by Bangkok-born filmmaker and visual artist Apichatpong Weerasethakul, who is known for a mesmeric visual language characterised by long takes and static images. Considering light and its transitory nature, the work was made in collaboration with Rueangrith Suntisuk and Pornpan Arayaveerasid of Bangkok-based collective DuckUnit.
