“There is increasing demand for private school bus services to be tracked via GPS” You don’t have to be Einstein to see that the bus and coach industry is evolving at a fast pace. What bus and coach businesses will be doing differently 10 years from now is anyone’s guess, but you can be sure that those who stubbornly cling to doing things the way that they used to be done will have a hard time of it. Uber, autonomous vehicles, on-demand transport – the list goes on. While no one can be 100 per cent sure how this will all play out, there can be no denying the fact that consumer habits are changing and that people are not going to wait for your route bus service to reach…
Sydney’s booming northwest region will receive an unprecedented boost of 1000 extra bus services as part of an upgraded public transport service that will also see Metro trains arriving every four minutes. New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian and Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance announced the surge in extra buses while inspecting construction progress at Cudgegong Road Station, the first station on Sydney Metro – Australia’s biggest public transport project. The new services are a part of more than 1700 extra weekly bus trips that are coming online across Sydney, the Illawarra, the Central Coast and the Hunter. The services will begin this month and will be delivered under the NSW Government’s Growth Services Program, which provides more bus services for customers when and where they are needed.…
A new bus network that replaces the 19 existing routes with 15 more direct and frequent services has been launched in the regional Victorian city of Ballarat. CDC Victoria (owned by parent company ComfortDelGro) transferred 14 new Volgren buses from Melbourne to CDC Ballarat, which will be used on the new network. Victorian Minister for Public Transport Jacinta Allan joined Member for Buninyong Geoff Howard and Member for Wendouree Sharon Knight in Ballarat to mark the occasion. The move is part of the Victorian Government’s $100 million investment in better bus services. “We’re delivering more trains and more buses right now, and investing more than half a billion dollars to run even more frequent, reliable services in the future,” Allan says. Many of the routes cover the same area as…
Queensland operator Quicksilver has added two new Volvo-Marcopolo B7R 57-seat coaches to its fleet. The coaches will be put to good use, travelling along the Great Barrier Reef drive between Cairns and Port Douglas. Quicksilver managing director Tony Baker says he is pleased that the organisation is able to offer its customers the comfort and safety of riding in these brand new coaches. “After the success of our first Volvo coach in early 2016, a second coach was commissioned and has commenced transferring our Quicksilver reef customers along one of Australia’s most scenic drives in a vehicle that brings a new standard of quality, safety and technology to the region,” he says. The Volvo-Marcopolo B7Rs have the highest possible current exhaust emission controls. “By European emission standards, it’s an enhanced…

Sydney bus customers are set to start accessing free Wi-Fi on their ride as a trial of 50 buses with the new technology hits the streets. New South Wales Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance welcomed the trial on some State Transit Authority buses and says it is exciting to see another example of how public transport can be enhanced with technology. “Many people rely on being connected to their smartphone, often using the time of their commute to catch up on news, emails and social media – so it is pleasing to see these types of trials underway,” Constance says. “We are always looking for ways to improve the customer experience across all public transport services, particularly when it comes to providing reliability and convenience.” The technology being…
