They might be from England's port town of Ipswich, but Lebrique's sound is beholden to the misanthropic urban-industrial hellscapes of Unsane, Uniform and KEN Mode. Blaring riffs, rasped snarls, and melodies that sound like they've been fed through a meat grinder and then hung from power cables, every track on 'Head Trap' feels like it's been prodded, poked and agitated to the point just short of frenzy, and then let loose in a claustrophobic space to wreak havoc.
Through it all, some melody manages to shine through. Keep Down shows just how adept the band are at cultivating beauty amid the wreckage, a queasy, lumbering bass line giving way to ragged, sharp melodies. It's never long before the crushing rhythms come stomping back through, however, with the…
