Soulnote equipment is manufactured by CSR Inc, which is headquartered in Kanagawa, Japan. CSR was founded in 2004 as a result of a management buyout, where former employees of Marantz Japan Inc, under the leadership of Kazuyoshi Takanashi, took over Marantz Japan's wireless communication device business. The new company expanded quickly, adding to its product portfolio data transmission systems, radio communications equipment for Japanese Fire and Rescue Services, karaoke equipment, wireless microphones, amplifiers and music education equipment.
In 2006, CSR Inc released its first Soulnote component, the dc1.0 DAC. In April of that year, it also became the Japanese distributor for Britain's PMC professional and consumer loudspeakers, and in December 2021 also the Japanese distributor for Motorola Solutions.
