It’s done to raise money for Salisbury Hospital’s charity Stars Appeal, specifically the Children’s Ward, and’s held on the outskirts of the town (Salisbury, obviously) at the Rugby Club on Castle Road, a venue that’s easy enough to spot as you ride towards it, even if you don’t know quite where it is, because of the full-size replica of a Second World War Spitfire on a pole. If, though, you’re anywhere near as observant as I am, you’ll ride straight past it, take the next turning instead, and wonder why there seem to be no bikes, no marquee, nothin’ on the field in front of you.
