Once referred to as arithmancy and primarily associated with astrology, numerology is the belief in an occult, divine, or mystical relationship between a number and one or more coinciding events. It can also refer to the study of the numerical value of the letters in words and names.
A famous believer in this practice was Burma Socialist Programme Party army general, Ne Win (1911–2002), who was Burma’s* military dictator during the country’s socialist period (1962–1988).
