New garden for hospital
Horatio’s Garden, the charity that creates gardens in hospital spinal units for paralysed patients, has raised enough money to start building a new garden at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, designed by Joe Swift, this summer. They’ve also announced that Bunny Guinness will be designing the next Horatio’s Garden at the Midlands Centre for Spinal Injuries in Oswestry. For more details, visit horatiosgarden.org.uk
Garden visits
To celebrate its 90th anniversary, the National Garden Scheme is hosting a festival weekend, when more than 400 gardens will open their gates, on 27-29 May. Gardens across England and Wales will take part, including some that opened in the inaugural year, 1927. There will also be special events, exhibitions and fairs.
