Long-tailed tit
Aegithalos caudatus DID YOU KNOW The long-tailed tit is in a different family to other garden tits. It’s distinguishable by its striped head, small, round body, long tail and the soft-pink colouring of adults. It has an undulating flight and often gathers in groups of up to 20.
DIET Unlike most tits they are mainly insectivorous, feeding on tiny insects, spiders, eggs and larvae. In the past decade, they have changed their feeding habits and are now regularly seen in gardens visiting hanging bird feeders containing peanuts and mixed bird seed, plus suet pellets and balls.
