We’ve always tried toshare the garden at Glebe Cottage with wildlife. It was here long before us, and anything we can do to make life as liveable as possible for other permanent residents, as well as fleeting visitors, has priority. Not quite as altruistic as it sounds though, as we are the ones who enjoy their company, and they would probably manage better without us. As it is, we garden organically, and grow trees, shrubs and flowers, which as well as satisfying our aesthetic requirements, also offer succour and shelter to other creatures.
The garden is full of birds - my husband Neil feeds them all year and there’s supplementary food, or perhaps it is primary, available in the form of seedheads, fruit, nuts and berries, as well as insects…
