You don't need to be a motor sport fan to have heard of British Racing Green (BRG) – but there are plenty of people who might not know the story behind the dark, but unspecific, shade. We got involved with boats when my father bought a five-metre Lapstrake fishing boat with a 25-horsepower Evinrude engine. I was about 13 and was allowed to drive it. We were a large Italian family, very close, and we enjoyed the heck out of it. The boats got bigger, and when I married Joan (pictured above) we got our own, an 11-metre Sea Ray.
