I have watched Below Deck, I confess. Not a huge amount of it, but I knocked off a few seasons of the sailingyacht version during various Covid lockdowns. It's ambient TV - something to have on while cooking or doom-scrolling. It doean't really matter if you tune out for a few minutes; no one's rewinding for an epic denouement. The Verve 48's slick handling should come as no surprise, since once again Azimut enlisted the hull wizard Michael Peters for the job. When Sunseeker began planning the Superhawk 55 three years ago, the idea was to produce three different versions. There will soon be a Sport Yacht flybridge version and a Predator model, both of which overlap with the Superhawk to a degree but are aimed at slightly different clients and experiences. Sunseeker's sales and marketing director Sean Robertson explains: “The Superhawk is following the trend for a more open dayboat style of boating. The Sport Yacht will be different. The cost of chartering in the Bahamas went up significantly mid-2022 when the country brought in 10 per cent VAT on the charter value in addition to the existing four per cent charter fee, creating a bit of a stir in the industry. When considering the pros and cons of clean fuel solutions, fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) – the generic chemical term for biodiesel derived from renewable sources – represents the recent past, hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) is the present and methanol could be the future. Best known for building and repairing workboats, merchant vessels and naval ships, Damen Maaskant is the commercial arm of the family-owned group of Damen shipyards. While there is a division dedicated to yachting, the group has acknowledged a market demand for projects that fall outside the remit of superyacht refits associated with Damen Yachting.
