In February, I went on my first Scout backpacking trip. I got up at 5 a.m., grabbed my backpack and hit the road. When my troop arrived at Middle Lion Campground in Ventura County, California, we hiked to our campsite, which was about 2 miles away. Upon arrival, we set up tents and ate lunch. Afterward, I explored the area with the other Scouts. We came across a waterfall and climbed all the way to the top. We also built a campfire, sang songs, and told stories and jokes. Later that night, I went to my tent, used my hand warmers and went to sleep. The next morning, my troop and I had breakfast, packed up the campsite and explored the area a little more before leaving.
