Vincent Melvin, 12, was sleeping in his home in Orlando, Florida, when he was awakened in the early morning hours by a fire near his bed. The fire was spreading quickly, and the house began to fill with smoke. Vincent called out to alert his family, then grabbed a fire extinguisher and took it to his dad. Mr. Melvin soon emerged from the house unhurt and carrying their dog. He told everyone the fire was out, but Vincent’s room had been severely damaged. Firemen soon arrived and inspected the house to make sure the fire would not start again.
