Hornby’s talented designers took on the challenge of the tiny 48DS a few years ago, which required the use of a match truck for practicality. However, its slightly larger brother can stand and run on its own four wheels and, arguably, the 88DS is a far more useful prototype, finding use right across the UK, and indeed the world through its exports, within a wide range of industries; gas works, paper mills, manufacturing works, refineries and chemical works, quarries, cement works, steelworks, power stations and collieries plenty of inspiration there and then you can add in BR’s usage of six of these within their civil engineering departments.
