interCaribbean Airways has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA). This sets up a mutual agreement for the coordinated movement of supplies and support teams in response to regional crises, and will strengthen the strategic airlift available when relief efforts need to be quickly mobilised. “We at interCaribbean are pleased to partner with CDEMA in supporting the region when regional disaster events necessitate early and quick responses,” stated Lyndon Gardiner, Chairman of interCaribbean. “With a Caribbean-wide network of destinations, we are uniquely able to quickly respond. In October, interCaribbean Airways made a donation of almost RD$61,000 to the Friends Against Childhood Cancer Foundation (Fundación Amigos Contra el Cáncer Infantil; www.facci.org.do), which works to improve the quality of life of children with cancer in the Dominican Republic. This was the result of a corporate campaign during Cancer Awareness Month (October), with contributions and support from our teams across the Caribbean, including call-centre agents, reservation offices staff, customer service agents, checkin agents, handlers, personnel in offices, aircraft maintenance teams, and finance, accounting, human resources, operations and administrative departments.
