Nomalanga Tshuma nomalanga.tshuma@inl.co.za THE Western Cape health department, in partnership with the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) vaccinated 360 people at pop-up vaccine sites at grocery stores in Philippi and Mitchell’s Plain at the weekend.
The department said the initiative, which fell under its Boots on the Ground campaign, was launched to improve the low registration rate in the sub-district.
Interns from the department, accompanied by community health workers, engaged and encouraged locals, who were at Sassa collection points at Boxer stores in Philippi and Mitchell’s Plain, to register for their vaccines and, at the same time, receive their vaccines inside the stores.
