South Africa's future cricket stars are padding up again to make their mark in the annual Awqaf SA Hundred Ball Youth Cricket Tournament.
The four-day competition, now in its sixth year, will be held at Primrose Cricket Club in Claremont from December 14 to 17, and will feature 18 Under-14, Under-16 and Under-18 teams this year.
At a media launch for the event at Islamia College in Lansdowne on Monday, the young club captains were handed their caps in a pre-tournament ceremony.
Western Province cricket veteran and event patron, Beresford Williams, acknowledged sponsors Awqaf SA and Primrose for establishing the long-running tournament, which not only developed future talent, but also kept youngsters busy over the school holidays.
