Every year on March 24, World TB Day, the global community focuses on tuberculosis (TB).
On March 24, 1882, Robert Koch announced he had discovered what causes tuberculosis – a bacterium called Mycobacterium tuberculosis. TB has been around for much longer – probably for the past 9 000 years.
While TB is related to poverty and poor nutrition, like Covid-19 it is airborne and anyone can contract it.
The theme for this year’s World TB Day Commemoration is: “Yes, You and I can end TB”.
