Gauteng Organised Crime Unit arrested three suspects for alleged smuggling of illicit cigarettes worth millions of rand on Friday. The police said the suspects were found with illicit cigarettes and prohibited medication. “Police received a tip-off about illicit cigarettes and drugs that were kept in Fordsburg, Joburg. The City’s Law Enforcement officers have taken a man into custody after he paraded a firearm in the CBD’s Long Street yesterday. The man was allegedly spotted threatening to shoot people when officers intervened. Law Enforcement’s Wayne Dyason said: “The officers spotted the suspect walking towards them with both hands behind his back. “The officers approached him and he laughed, telling them he was a SAPS member. Bukavu: The death toll from floods and landslides in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo has risen to nearly 400, an administrative official said yesterday.
