THE City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate is advising residents, road users and businesses of the resurfacing of Victoria Road and Albert Road in the Salt River and Woodstock area. The work, which started on Monday, is scheduled for completion by the end of June. That is if all goes as planned. The resurfacing will take place from 8.30am to 3.30pm on weekdays and Sundays, and sometimes at night between 6.30pm and 5.30am. The six fishermen who disappeared at sea on Saturday have been reunited with their loved ones in what has been described a true Easter miracle. The men from Hout Bay, Netreg, Kuils River and Hawston were located yesterday after an extensive search and rescue effort including numerous resources that went more than 80 nautical miles south-east of Cape Point. It is believed that the men went fishing, but as they ran out of fuel, they drifted farther from the last provided co-ordinates for help. PLANS to relocate some shack dwellers, who have occupied parts of Prasa’s Central Line, have been greeted with anger by the Macassar community. Instead, they want already existing informal settlement communities in Macassar to benefit from housing opportunities in the area. This is after it was revealed on national television that the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (Prasa) intends to relocate the remaining central line occupants to Macassar. Prasa has already relocated hundreds of families to a piece of land situated behind the Stock Road transport hub in Philippi.
