FORMER National Assembly Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula made a brief appearance in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court yesterday, where her case was moved to the Gauteng High Court for a first appearance on October 16. Mapisa-Nqakula stands accused of corruption and money laundering during her stint as defence minister between 2016 and 2019. Yesterday, during her appearance, she was served with the original indictment setting out the charges against her. On Friday, we reached the 100-day milestone of continuous supply of electricity. PARIS: The Paris prosecutor’s office said yesterday it had launched a preliminary probe into allegations of illegal financing of far right RN leader Marine Le Pen’s campaign for the 2022 presidential race, which she lost to Emmanuel Macron. THREE trainees at the SA Police Services (Saps) Academy in Philippi are facing disciplinary action for being in possession of dagga. National police spokesperson, Athlenda Mathe, said while criminal charges were withdrawn against them, internal human resources proceedings were at an advanced stage. The trainees were busted during an inspection on Saturday, where three bank bags and nine smaller packets containing dagga were seized.
