In 2003 nine young gay men were brutally murdered in a gay sex trade establishment, Sizzlers, in Graham Road, Sea Point.
The owner, Aubrey Otgaar, at 56, the oldest of the men, took in young men into his establishment to give them a safe place to stay if they were almost destitute, and some took their stay further by selling sex.
In this way, the young men had a form of employment and security.
