THE Special Investigating Unit (SIU) is probing the millions of rand paid to private lawyers and advocates by the Office of the State Attorney over several years. This emerged in a lawsuit filed by senior counsel, advocate Viwe Notshe, in the Gauteng High Court. The State Attorney’s office refused to pay Notshe’s invoices, citing that the SIU was probing his other invoices, amounting to R27 million.
