I am devastated, disappointed, and heartbroken that most Zimbabweans have mental health issues caused by Zimbabwe’s extreme economic crises.
It’s hard to understand that the Zimbabwean population lives in extreme poverty, characterised by high levels of unemployment, a lack of income from permanent employment, water and sanitation services, and inadequate household necessities.
A large proportion of Zimbabweans with mental illness have experienced traumatic events, leading to life- threatening illnesses, physical assaults, or transportation accidents. Witnessing violence, war veterans, or survivors of mass disasters, domestic violence, life-changing injuries, medical trauma, deaths of loved ones, stress, and emotional abuse.
