The Capture Awards aim to showcase inspiring work by professional photographers from Australia and New Zealand. In its inaugural year, the competition attracted more than 700 entries over the six categories.
How the competition works
For the purposes of the competition (and for simplicity), we defined a professional photographer as someone who has earned more than $5,000 from photography (or videography) in any 12-month period over the last five years.
There were six categories for entrants to choose from: Advertising & Fashion, Documentary & Street, Landscape & Environment, Portrait & People, Wedding & Event, Video & Film.
Once entries closed, images were deidentified and data stripped and given a file number which could later be matched with photographer’s details after judging.
