Yes, this is what you pay towards taxes and fuel levies for every litre of fuel when you fill up your car. GarethD_CARmag 2 031 km 7,00 L/100 km Last month’s update on our Opel Corsa long-termer didn’t make for happy reading; the car suffered two breakdowns, the last of which saw it tethered to the back of a flat-bed tow truck bound for Reeds Bellville in Cape Town. Fast forward a couple of weeks and the situation is more cheerful, with the Corsa now happily piling on the miles and continuing to entertain me halfway through its six-month tenure. After a couple of weeks’ to-and-fro, we’ve now received the official line on what happened to our test unit. An on-site diagnosis conducted by the technical team from Stellantis revealed the Corsa’s onboard diagnostics system’s error codes related to a communication error between the transmission’s control unit and the car’s ECU. GarethD_CARmag Tesla’s Cybertruck may have broken cover back in 2019 but the patents for interesting new add-ons for the brutish-looking EV pickup have been coming in thick and fast. In addition to an upgrade to the much-vaunted (and easily broken) Armor Glass – featuring a tri-layer borosilicate compound construction similar to that found in the Gorilla Glass 5 covering many new cellphones – plans for a solar charging system have emerged. The system comprises photovoltaic panels built into the slats of the Cybertruck’s tonneau cover that can be rolled into a compact unit housed between the vehicle’s cab and load bed. A year or so after finishing the BMW LMR V12, Johan is now well on his way with his next project; a Mercedes-Benz C11 tribute car, the successor to the C9 Merc Johan built a few years back. “I learnt a heck of a lot with the C9 and applied those lessons to the BMW LMR. With the C11, I have much more information as I have been able to source original drawings and specs from the owner of one of the surviving C11 racers in the UK. The last Grand Prix held at Kyalami in 1993 saw two of the all-time F1 greats duelling it out for the lead (pictured on page 104). Lap after lap, Ayrton Senna in a McLaren-Ford held off Alain Prost in a vastly superior Williams-Renault, but eventually the inevitable happened and Prost drove to victory. That race was run 31 years after the first F1 Grand Prix was held at Kyalami, the 1961 non-championship event won by the late Jim Clark in a Lotus. Marius_CARmag “Nobody’s perfect” was a tongue-in-the-cheek advertisement campaign that Porsche ran for the North American market in 1983. It illustrated the 956 Group C racecar’s successes in that year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans where nine Porsche 956s finished in the top 10.
